July 15, 2011

Shhh…do you hear them?  I do.  Crickets, that is. It’s been much too quiet around here.

I apologize for the long absence.  It wasn’t my intention to be away so long but summer came calling and I’ve been enjoying its company.  I haven’t done much cooking at all in the last couple of weeks so I have nothing to share from the kitchen with you at this time.  Just know that I’ve missed you all.

I spent the 4th of July weekend in Sun Valley, Idaho.  If I close my eyes, I can still see the flash of reds, blues and greens from the fireworks display hosted by the town.  I can still smell the freshness of the crisp mountain air and feast my mind’s eyes on the endless sea of vibrant yellow and purple wildflowers that bloomed proudly on the hillside during our hikes, defying summer’s hot temperatures.  Best of all, I was in the company of good friends.  We spent a few days catching up with each other, relaxed, over good food and wine, as well as over more sweat-inducing activities, hiking and biking.

This was a couple of weeks ago.  I’m currently on another adventure which I will also share with you.  Until then, here are some snapshots of Sun Valley from my phone.  I hope you’re all having a wonderful summer so far!
